2003-2006 Torch (program 1) (The Operation to Restore Children’s Hope)
Ø In 2003 - 2004, 100 children got gifts (kit) from good Samaritan to restore children’s Hope programme (i).
Ø We have been able to rich 8 villages in HIV/AIDS training
Ø We trained 98 Christian members in HIV/AIDS home based care and they were awareded certificates in 8 churches to have mere volunteers of TOT (Training of Trainers)
Ø We visited 13 schools in counseling, sensitization and child rights through dram.
Ø 130, OVCs were provided with scholastic materials and uniform this was from TAIP |

Ø 2005 – 2006 we received five sowing machines from TAIP for training widows and we trained 25 widows on cloth making
Ø 5 widows who effectively participated well were award each a sowing machine for IGA
Ø Provided 2 football and netball to youths to attract them for sensitization and counseling
2007-2009 Torch (program 2) (The Operation to Restore Children’s Hope)

This has enabled Good Samaritan Team (GST) members to understand our call as a local church.
Economic strengthening
The organization received a grant of three hundred thousand (300,000/=) to sustain a piggery model farm in order to achieve the following;
(a) To assist GSTs improve the OVC ministry
(b) To develop the (GST) Good Samaritan team or (Organisation)
(c) Care for the AIDS infected and affected families / OVC of the most vulnerable.
(d) To act as a learning model farm for the entire community.
OVC Ministry (Organisation) received funds for animals as (IGA) to support 25 (OVC) families which was Eight hundred seventy five thousand shillings 875,000/=
(i) This was to sustain OVC families
(ii) To reduce on the dependence syndrome of the families
(iii) To support OVC in scholastic materials and other basic needs
(iv) To act as a resource to the family as a whole.
Improved seeds
The 25 (OVC) families received the following; maize 68kgs bears 67kgs. G/nuts 43kgs, Rice 15kgs.

Scholastic materials
100 (OVC) with in the 25 families received. Books, pencils, pens in three terms and mathematical sets.
School uniform was given to 100 OVS of the 25 families. All this fund was donated by the AIDS Intervention programme (TAIP) Jinja Uganda.

4. Some of the PLWA / OVC are converted to Christ
5. The organization received some stationeries books, markers mashing tapes & sugar papers.
6. Monitoring and evaluation have been done.
7. Savings and credit skills (SACCO) was formed in church
8. Early marriage and school drop outs decreased
9. Through sensitization, counseling and care we have got PLWHA declared publically their HIV status and some are on ARVs treatment.
10. 30 CBOs under refresh trainings according to TAIPs Programmes

CHALLENGES
1. Other NGOs/CBO giving more support than we can’t do.
2. Increasing number of OVC, client and widows
3. Long distance to cover the area of operation without proper transport.
4. Absolute poverty among the people we serve lacking proper nutrition, clothing to orphans and medication for our clients, which has caused illness and death to many people both young and old.
5. Lack of public address system e.g (Loud speakers) moreover cigarette promoters, alcohol sellers and traditional drug sellers do have them.
6. We have ever experienced a resource gap in the ministry to fulfill God’s work and in HIV/Aids awareness campaigns.
7. Negative attitudes of the people towards HIV/AIDS orphans and vulnerable children where by they isolate, discriminate and stigmatize them in areas not yet reached.
WAY FORWARD
1. Prayers for God’s guidance in our organization
2. The number of ministers and volunteers to be increased in light of the OVC ministry and to train them all over our catchments area.
3. Forming partners at national/international levels and effective consultation from various NGO
4. To strive and increase SACCO finances
5. Have tractors or oxen bulls and oxen ploughs for ploughing which can assist the PLWHA, widows, guardians with OVCs in provision of enough food, security of nutrition and also serves as an IGA to ensure sustainability self reliance and reduce family labour work lord in needy homes.
6. A technical school = to support children OVCs who have no access for further education in order to have knowledge from the technical which will assist them in the future.
7. Establish a children’s recreation centre, which is to restore children’s hope, refreshing them, spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically and socially.
8. To have medical centre, for easy counseling, care, transporting our clients and treating them.
9. To set up an agricultural store which will help beneficiaries/Christians set their products at good price and those crops will be stored as food security to help the community during famine period.
10. Making seminars, crusades, music galas and drama
11. Provision of skills trainings reducing HIV/AIDS amongst children and improving the welfare of orphan and vulnerable children through sensitization, counseling and work shops.
12. to have trainings not only in HIV/AIDS but also trainings in hand crafts, business management and workshops of small industries.
13. To increase support for IGA, scholastic materials, uniform, mosquito nets and beddings to the families with OVCs.
14. To have office computers system for easy recording and easy office routine work.
15. To enlarge our organization land.
Therefore we call for intervention in respect to provide social care support to OVCs in order to restore their hope and improve their well being.
